Mailbox Was Destroyed

August 25th, 2006 at 11:52 pm

My mailbox was destroyed but the car that hit it looks worse.

I have pictures of my mailbox but unfortunately none of the car that hit it because she didn't stop until half a mile up the road from my house when it died also. One dead mailbox, one dead car my mailbox is American made obviously her car wasn't because my mailbox kicked her car's ass!

Not sure what she was doing I am guessing talking on the phone because she ran over my lawn, stone wall, and hit my mailbox. Her fender was smashed, her passenger back tire flat, her passenger side mirror bent in and smashed her passenger window!

Here is the pictures:

Sarah - I'm so glad you have a sense of humor about it! Sorry about your wall, mailbox and flowers. Your writing style - terrific!

That's both hilarious and frightening. I loved your report on the incident. It was a hoot to read. Be sure that the insurance claim includes mailbox, installation, and landscaping as well.

What's frightening is that there could easily have been a child by the side of the road instead of a mailbox.

Funny but scary! Thank God it was not a child that was hit.

We had a mailbox killed by car a few years back. It happened at 2 a.m. and we never found out who did it. If I'd gone outside at 2 a.m. when I heard the noise, but had no clue what it was, I might have. I was out about $80 bucks to replace it, new mailbox (largest size as we get a lot of books delivered), new post, concrete, half dozen reflectors, sticky letters and numbers. I think the people were drunk.

Glad no one was hurt and hope you won't have to pay to have it all fixed yourself.
