Questions and Ponderings?

August 3rd, 2006 at 03:04 pm

I have been thinking about this one for a long time and I need opinions. I received an email about frugal living and the main premise of it was to get up every morning (even if you have no where to go) and take a shower and get dressed right away. Doing that one thing will make you a more productive and organized person therefore helping you to save money.

Shower = More Productive = Debt Free

I am not sure what I think about this. It takes me forever to get myself showered and dressed in the morning. I have a 3 & 4 year old and I work at home and frankly a shower and getting dressed is usually last on my list. I make an effort to get a shower in and look half way decent before my husband comes home but that is usually the best I can do.

Would I be more productive? I was going to give it a try this morning but I have been at my computer all morning and it is 11am eastern time and I am no where near showering.

What are you thoughts?

Also, any yard saler's out there? Want to let me know if I forgot anything?

I don't like doing that first thing. That is why I don't work. I usually wait until the afternoon to shower and dress (nicely)

*lol* Add me to the list too, of those who most of the time don't get dressed until afternoon.

I'm guessing that maybe their theory would work - I mean, 'cuz I guess I feel more productive when I'm actually up and dressed.

Let us know how it works! Smile

I have issues with getting up in the mornings! Only because I know I have a long day ahead of me and sometimes fear it. I try something to motivate me to get up and shower early. For an example if I get up early and shower and get dressed, I can treat myself to coffee with a cookie or something or give myself 15 minutes to read.

I usually wait to shower until DH and YD are gone.

I wear contacts and don't put them in until after I shower.

I do agree with the premise to some extent. I think I kind of fool around surfing the net, drinking coffee, do a little work, but once I am dressed I jump into payroll work vigorously.

When I had two little ones at home, I tried to shower before DH left so he could keep his eye on them.

My suggestion is you try it. Everyone's work/down times are different. Maybe what you are doing works for you.

I do like to shower and get dressed early. Makes me feel like a human, and when I'm feeling human, I'm more productive. But whether it helps financially? I don't know. NOT showering would save money ... but not enough to make up for the friends you would lose!
